The flower is pink, the blossom is yellow and the backside of the leaf is whitish. The fruit is eatable. When the fruit is young it is grayish in color and turns black as it matures. The inner fruit produces a purple color if cooked.
Bunganya pink, pucuk sari kuning, daun bagian bawah putih dan bagian atas hijau. Buahnya bisa dimakan, saat muda berwarna abu-abu dan bila tua berwarna hitam. Daging buahnya berwarna ungu (bila masak)

The identification was made through email and photo sent to Tony Cunningham. He sas that the source of tannin from these trees is high particularly from the bark.
