Jatropha has the Latin name Jastropha curcas,, this plant has many benefits. This plant belongs to the Euphorbiaceae familly, this plant is classified as a shrub, which has single leaves with between 7-9 fingers, 10-40 in diametes. The leaves of this plant can be used to treat fever, relieve joint pain, skin swelling, and the sap can be used to treat mouth ulcers and mouth infections, and the seeds can be used as a red dye/mordant.

Jarak memiliki nama latin Jastropha curcas, tanaman ini memiliki banyak manfaat. Tanaman ini masuk ke dalam family Euphorbiaceae, tanaman ini tergolong tanaman perdu, yang memiliki daun tunggal menjari antara 7–9, berdiameter 10–40 cm. Bagian daun dari tanaman ini dapat digunakan untuk obat demam, meredakan nyeri sendi, pembekakan kulit, dan bagian getahnya bisa digunakan untuk obat sariwan, dan infeksi pada mulut, serta bijinya bisa dimanfaatkan untuk  bahan pewarna merah/mordant.

Oil from the seed is rubbed onto wheels of cotton gin locally called Bninis, to make it turn easier. Other plants can be also used in place of Jatropha curcas such us: fenu (Aleurites moluccana), usapi (shcleichera oleosa), nisa (Sterculia foetida) and paku lulu (Ricinus communis).
Minyak dari biji digosokkan pada roda Bninis (alat untuk memisahkan serat kapas dengan biji kapas) digunakan untuk melumasi Bninis agar lebih mudah diputar. Minyak dari tumbuhan lain juga bisa dipakai untuk melumasi Bninis seperti fenu (Aleurites moluccana), usapi (shcleichera oleosa), nisa (Sterculia foetida) dan paku lulu (Ricinus communis).
