Jatropha has the Latin name Jastropha curcas,, this plant has many benefits. The leaves of this plant can be used to treat fever, relieve joint pain, skin swelling, and the sap can be used to treat mouth ulcers and mouth infections, and the seeds can be used as a red dye/mordant.

Oil from the seed is rubbed onto wheels of cotton gin locally called Bninis, to make it turn easier. Other plants can be also used in place of Jatropha curcas such us: fenu (Aleurites moluccana), usapi (shcleichera oleosa), nisa (Sterculia foetida) and paku lulu (Ricinus communis).
Minyak dari biji digosokkan pada roda Bninis (alat untuk memisahkan serat kapas dengan biji kapas) digunakan untuk melumasi Bninis agar lebih mudah diputar. Minyak dari tumbuhan lain juga bisa dipakai untuk melumasi Bninis seperti fenu (Aleurites moluccana), usapi (shcleichera oleosa), nisa (Sterculia foetida) dan paku lulu (Ricinus communis).
