Plant is used in Onelako when steaming thread that has already been dyed red with Morinda. The local name for the final steaming process is Jaka.
Hati kayu dipakai di daerah Onelako, Ende saat proses jaka. Proses jaka adalah proses akhir dari pewarnaan merah memakai Morinda yang berguna untuk mengunci warna benang.

The heart of the old wood is boiled in water. The threads are steamed over the boling water producing a pink-red color. The tree is cut down for this purpose.
Hati kayu yang sudah tua direbus. Benang dimasukkan dalam air rebusan hingga menghasikan benang berwarna merah muda (pink). Cara panen kurang sustainable karena harus potong pohonnya.
