Bark or roots are used in black dye process. The dyers prefer to use the roots but use the bark if they don't have enough roots to harvest. Tony Cunningham notes that this is no longer used on Raijua.
Kulit pohon atau akarnya digunakan dalam proses pencelupan warna hitam. Penenun lebih suka menggunakan akarnya, namun mereka juga menggunakan kulit pohon jika tidak punya cukup banyak akar yang bisa dipanen. Menurut Tony Cunningham tumbuhan ini sudah lama tidak lagi digunakan di Raijua.
