The bark of Ko is used as a replacement for Areca catecu to chew. Ko is not used in dye process but has been previously. Note that Ko and Ko kehuba are regarded as two different plants by the local community.
Kulit dari pohon Ko digunakan sebagai pengganti dari Areca catecu untuk dikunyah. Ko tidak lagi digunakan untuk pencelupan tetapi dahulu pernah digunakan. Ada dua jenis tumbuhan Ko dan Ko kehuba yang dikenal oleh masyarakat lokal.

Roots used in blue-black dye process with nai ledo (IKS 006) and nitas ash water. Ko Kehuba selected as root bark is dark and bark slash red. Ko which has a whiter bark slash is not used. Tony Cunningham believes these are the same species, and that different site conditions or chemotype possibly lead to higher tannin content.
Akarnya digunakan dalam proses pencelupan warna biru-hitam dicampur dengan Nai ledo (IKS 006) dan air abu nitas. Untuk memilih Ko kehuba kulit akarnya harus berwarna gelap dan jika diiris kulit batang pohonya berwarna merah. Sedangkan Ko jika diiris kulit batang pohonnya berwana lebih putih jadi Ko tidak digunakan dalam proses pewarnaan. Tony Cunningham percaya bahwa tanaman ini merupakan jenis yang sama. Ini diakibatkan karena tempat tumbuh yang berbeda atau disebabkan oleh chemotype yang membuat kandungan tanin salah satu dari tumbuhan ini lebih besar.
